After researching Adaptability, I’ve decided it’s one of my top five strengths. I’m the kind of person who lives in the moment, and as CliftonStrengths puts it, “You don’t envision the future as a predetermined destination. Instead, you perceive it as a place you construct through the choices you make in the present.” Additionally, I don’t mind sudden requests, which is another aspect of adaptability. When I’m unexpectedly asked for a report, I readily accept them. I view these requests as opportunities to move closer to my goals. My current role demands constant pivoting or the ability to pivot when necessary, and I thrive in such an environment.
I chose the Achiever strength because when questions at work arise, I tend to look back for the answers. I trust those who came before me, sometimes too much for needed information. When I run into a problem, the first step for me usually would be asking those who have been there the longest, because I know they have the experience of either being there or learning from those who came before them.
I chose three quotes from this strength becuase I believe this is one of my greatest strength and its very important. I believe cliques in any environment can be destructive. I think that cliques can be cause discontintment espeically in the work place. I want all those I work with or do life with feel accepted and involved. I believe that if all feel included the time spent at work not only feels more comftorable but also productive.
I chose the learner strength because I feel if you are not learning anything, you're not growing. I also get a sense of achievement from not knowing something to feeling confident in that subject. This strength not only pushed me to continue my education but also pursue assignments where I will learn more to grow in my role at work.
I chose Restorative as another strength because I feel as if this one is where I see my value in the most. I feel most needed when there are problems that need solving, and I can produce those solutions. This can be small or large problems, such as time-saving solutions for co-workers, such as an automated report, to assuming new responsibilities when we are short-staffed so that our program can continue to function seamlessly.
If I had to choose a strength that I would want to develop the most, it would be the Adaptability strength. I feel like this is the most asked-for strength when working and in school. You must not only be able to adapt to working climate changes but also to school and life. To develop this strength, I will need to not only work with it like I currently do but also lead and live with it. One way would be to not compromise my long-term goals for requests.
